Commission FAQs
Please email me at [email protected] for price quotes and more information on commissions.
What are your prices?
Prices can vary greatly and are determined by the number of people/pets in the painting, the size of the canvas, and the date by which you need the painting by. They can also fluctuate based on how many commissions I currently have. Please email me to get a personal quote! How long will it take? Smaller paintings can take a couple weeks while larger more detailed ones can take over a month or more to complete. I've had a steady number of commissions so its possible I could be working on multiple pieces while also painting yours. The earlier you can get in touch the better! Do I have to pay a deposit? All of my commissions require a non-refundable deposit that I must receive before I start the painting. Usually I will ask for half of the final price down. How do I pay the deposit? You may send me a deposit using Venmo, money order, cash or check. What kind of paint will it be made with? All of my work is done using oil paint. |
Some commissions look more realistic than others. Why is that?
Many of the pictures I receive from people for commissions are either very old or they're just low quality. I try as best I can to get a likeness to the photograph I'm given without having met the person/people in them. Typically, the higher the quality of the reference photo the more detailed the painting! What kind of canvas do you use? Unless otherwise requested, all of my paintings are made on high quality gallery wrapped canvas with 1.5 inch deep sides. You can view an example of the canvas I usually use here. I will also wire the painting for you so it can be hung and put a protective varnish on it. If you would like to see sizing examples please click here. Can you ship the painting to me? Yes! After we determine the size of the canvas I will get a shipping quote for you. Usually the paintings ship through USPS priority mail and, depending on your location, can take 1-3 days to arrive. Do I have to pay the full price before you ship the painting? Yes, when the painting is finished I must receive the full price (including shipping) before I can ship it to you. Can you put two or more separate pictures together for the painting? If you do not have a single picture of all the people/pets you'd like in the same painting I may be able to stitch them together. I have some amateur knowledge in Photoshop so, if I can, I'll arrange them into one picture so you can get an idea of composition before I start. |
What if I have a set budget?
I'll work with any reasonable budget! I encourage you to let me know your budget in the first email so that I can tell you what size canvas(s) I can offer you. Please be aware that I put a lot of my time and effort into every painting I do. Do you work on a surface other than canvas? I have painted on canvas, panel, baseballs, ostrich eggs, clothing - you name it! Will you frame the painting? I typically do not frame my paintings. Usually I will paint the sides of the canvas a color that compliments the painting. Many people do use "Floater Frames" to frame canvas. You can view an example here. You can also view a more traditional frame here. Can I get progress pictures of the painting? Of course. I do this with all my commissions usually when I'm almost done with the painting - but I can send them as much as you'd like. What if I have a special request? Shoot me an email! I'll do it if I have the necessary time/tools for what you would like done. |
